GPA (Grade Point Average)

Definition

A numerical representation of a student's overall academic performance, calculated by dividing the total grade points earned by the total credit hours attempted. In the standard 4.0 scale, A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, and F = 0.0. Most institutions require a minimum GPA (typically 2.0) for good academic standing and graduation. Graduate programs commonly require a 3.0 minimum.
