SAT/ACT

Definition

Standardized college admissions tests used by most U.S. colleges and universities. The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test), developed by College Board, tests evidence-based reading, writing, and math. The ACT (American College Testing) tests English, math, reading, and science reasoning, plus an optional writing section. Both are scored on their own scales and accepted by virtually all U.S. four-year institutions, though many have moved to test-optional admissions.
